WELL, naps aren't just for dictators, are they? Hamas and Hezbollah perhaps have barely a brain between them but they have successfully bearded Mr Olmert as sure as if they were seen leaving his wife's bedroom with their pants down. Now he is engaged in a duel with these two twits in which escalation is his only tool and Syria and Iran his only plausible targets. Yet, will ANYONE regard it as rational two actually go to WAR over a couple of captured soldiers?
A couple of years ago it was fashionable to say that "the road to Jerusalem runs through Baghdad" (even though at that time the reverse would have been just as true.) Now it turns out that this is not only true but in a way that none of those optimists spouting this long ago could ever have imagined. If he can restrain himself from simply cheerleading for the side with the most guns, perhaps Mr Firmim can enlighten us all about his own "roadmap" to resolution of the current difficulties? Would he countenance unconditional US talks with Iran if that could help prevent the widening of the current conflict?
